Safer road users
Tougher enforcement efforts, new education campaigns, major road infrastructure projects and new initiatives targeting specific groups of drivers will tackle unsafe driving behaviour and reduce deaths and injuries on our roads.
All road users share a responsibility to use the road system safely and responsibly, and with consideration for other road users.
The Victorian Government will continue to target unsafe behaviours such as speeding, drink and drug impaired driving, and driving when fatigued or distracted. The First Action Plan of the arrive alive 2008 - 2017 strategy delivers a range of new initiatives to tackle unsafe behaviour, including public awareness campaigns, targeted enforcement practices, further research and improvements to road infrastructure and vehicle technology.
